Pop Up Gift Card Holder

Step by Step

For pop-up:

2 pieces of DSP 4 ¼ x 2, score every ½” on the short side
1 piece of DSP 4 ½ x 4 ½ for scallop envelope

  1. Die cut scallop envelope using the Big Shot – line up the DSP to not cut the scallop edge.
  2. To one of the rectangular pieces: Apply adhesive on the right side (the side you want to see) on the long edge.
  3. Attach to top inside of the card, just above the crease.
  4. Align other end of scored piece to card base – it should look like a long box without ends.
  5. Adhere scallop envelope to center of long box
  6. To the second rectangular DSP:  Apply adhesive on the right side (the side you want to see) on the long edge.
  7. Adhere to scallop envelope.
  8. Adhere other side to base of card.

For envelope:

Enclose flap of envelope in Stripes Embossing Folder; run through Big Shot and remove.

For card:

Design card front using My Digital Studio with Graduation Stamp Brush Set, export as .jpg, print and trim. Mat with Basic Black card stock and mount on Crumb Cake card stock. Add Rhinestones or fussy cut grad cap and pop up with Dimensional.

Still Clean & Simple

A few simple changes – a little piercing, matching sentiment, sponged edge, and a lined envelope can make a whale of a difference!

Now I love this card, and it’s still clean and simple. And the changes took only a few minutes. Quick directions on how to line an envelope. Cut Designer Series Paper to 4″ x 5 11/16″, slide into top of envelope with a little adhesive, trim to fit outside edge of flap.

Watch my YouTube channel for an upcoming video if you need a visual on how to line an envelope.

Too Clean & Simple?

My first attempt at a Clean & Simple card using the super cute Oh Whale stamp set is a bit TOO Clean & Simple for my taste.

What I like:  keeping my palette to just two colors, quick and easy

What I don’t like:  feels unfinished to me

Let me know if you like this look. And check back to see what I do to this card to take it up a notch.

Up, Up & Away

Any of you who know me know that I go crazy when it comes to hot air balloons. And these three are no exception.

Up, up, up & away times 3

The bright colors are an instant mood lifter, along with the breezy embossed cloud layer and the psychedelic layer behind the sentiment. A little sponging around the cloud layer gives the card more depth.

The Original Red Box

PhoneBooth

I love this vintage British phone booth – although my version is a modern Tangerine Tango orange! A little texture courtesy of the Big Shot and Square Lattice Embossing Folder, and a flat bow finishes it off. Video coming soon on how to tie these bows.

Button, Button Revealed

FerrisWheel

Originally designed for the World’s Fair in Chicago, 1893, the Ferris Wheel is an iconic symbol. This image of an antique ferris wheel brings the joy of that time back to life.

Let’s Fly Away Some More

Can you tell I love this Swallowtail stamp? This card is clean and simple, but talk about wow factor. And it’s quick and easy to do. Pool Party and Daffodil Delight shine on a background of Whisper White. Striking, in my book. Thanks to Elaine Montmorency for the idea.

Come Fly Away

Come fly away with this ethereal swallowtail butterfly! Card CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from Mary Brown. The only thing I changed was omitting one of the black butterflies that she had on her card. I also added a small black butterfly to the inside of the card.

 Tone on Tone Effect

Base of card is Crumb Cake card stock. One layer of black cardstock. Swallowtail is stamped in Crumb Cake Classic Ink on Naturals Ivory card stock. The sentiment from Bloomin’ Marvelous stamp set is stamped in Black Stazon ink on Crumb Cake card stock and layered on Very Vanilla card stock punched with the Decorative Label punch. A notched strip of stripes (say that fast three times!) from the Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks and a super skinny strip of Crumb Cake card stock complete the embellishments.
