Gift Bag with abstract gold, pink, black and gray pattern and hexagons scattered on front for Mother's Day

Make a Mother’s Day Gift Bag perfect for holding packets of flower seeds! This gift bag measures 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ x 1″ and can hold quite a bit. The back is decorated with the same patterned paper. Read on for dimensions and the how to.

Scoring Guide for Mother’s Day Gift Bag

Scoring

Start with a piece of cardstock measuring 6-1/2″ x 10″ and score as noted above in the chart. I used the the Simply Scored Scoring Tool, but you can also use the score blade on the Stampin’ Trimmer. The tic marks are made on one long side. Turn the cardstock 90 degrees to the right and score on the short side. Make the diagonal score lines with a ruler and a scoring stylus. The cardstock should like this:

Cutting

Trim off the small end corner. Miter the 1/4″ side flap. Cut along the score lines up to the 1″ score line to create the bottom flaps and miter as shown in the cutting diagram.

assembling the gift Bag

Fold the cardstock on all score lines and add patterned paper to the front and back panels. Add adhesive to the 1/4″ side flap and to the full bottom flap. Form the bag shape by adhering the side panel first. Then fold in the end flaps and press to adhere.

finishing the gift bag

Place the seed packets inside the bag, pinch the top shut and wrap cording around the top three times and tie in a bow or knot. Decorate the front of the bag — I added three hexagons in different sizes and material to the front of my mine.

This pinch pouch gift bag can easily be modified to be shorter or taller. Just change the 6-1/2″ measurement to be smaller or larger. All other measurements stay the same.
