The crowd goes wild with this gorgeous Stadium Wave Pop Up Card! Gilded butterflies and touches of gold foil elevate the entire crafting experience with the Delicate Wings Paper Pumpkin kit of April 2024. No special equipment needed, other than a good paper trimmer and liquid glue. I’ve been wanting to make this style of card for months after I saw a crafter from the UK make one of these cards as a 6″ x 6″. While this card technically will fit in a Stampin’ Up! standard envelope, due to the bulk inside, I’d place it in an acrylic card box. Or maybe I’ll make a matching box in the future. Without further ado, let’s get started!

Step by step instructions for stadium wave pop up
My favorite paper trimmer makes the scoring and cutting a breeze. Follow the Cutting & Scoring guide above. Diecut eight butterflies with the Thanks & Beyond Die Add On from scraps of Lost Lagoon cardstock. Add Versamark direct to paper by dabbing the ink pad on the front of each butterfly. Sprinkle generously with gold embossing powder. TIP: Brush away any harsh lines with a clean dry paint brush. Heat set.
Stamp and gold emboss one of the butterfly images from the Delicate Wings Paper Pumpkin Kit on the lower left corner of the Lost Lagoon inner liner. Stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink. Adhere liner to inside of folded card base.
Cut down front of the gold butterfly embossed card base from the Kit to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and adhere to card front. Stamp sentiment on kit-provided label and adhere to lower right front of card.
mechanism
Follow the Cutting & Scoring guide above. After scoring the eight inch side of the Pretty Peacock 4″ x 8″ cardstock, gently mountain fold the 5″ scoreline, mountain fold the 2″ scoreline, valley fold the 1-1/4″ scoreline and mountain fold the 1/2″ scoreline. Flatten out the piece and cut the 4″ side into 1/2″ strips.
Adhere the 1/2″ tab to the opposite long side on each strip, forming a triangle shape with a pushed in bottom. Each formed piece should stand up when finished.
Flatten a formed strip with the tab-glued side facing up. Add a line of glue along the left long edge. Flatten another formed strip and adhere to the first strip, lining up the top and bottom and covering about half of the width of the first strip. Keep adhering strips, working towards the left until all strips are adhered in an offset ‘pleat’ pattern.
To adhere to inside of card, add liquid glue to underside of far right strip, position inside card and press. Add liquid glue to top side of far left strip and close card, hold and press until glue sets.
Adhere a butterfly to the front of each strip with a glue dot. And listen to the fans cheer! Want to make your own? This link will take you to a supply list.

Here’s a closeup shot of the front of the card. I kept it pretty simple as the star of the show is the inside. Plus I didn’t want to add any more bulk.

It’s ery lovely. Where can I get the butterfly stamp and die cut?
Peri says
The diecut is available in my online store here. The butterfly stamp was part of the April 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit and is no longer available. A good substitute would be the Sketched Butterflies stamp set.
