Because it’s Tuesday, how about a fun and easy technique? The Brocade Embossing Technique is a huge wow with very little effort. Let’s get started!
- Rub Embossing Buddy over foil paper. I used gold foil for my mat.
- Stamp your image using Versa Mark, add powder (again, I used gold), shake off excess and heat emboss. Done!
Told you it was easy! The main thing to remember is match your embossing powder to your foil paper. That being said, try these combinations:
- Use silver foil and emboss with silver embossing powder
- Use copper foil and emboss with copper
- Use on metal color of foil and emboss with another embossing powder
- Use vellum cardstock and emboss with white, silver, or gold
I paired my gold brocade embossed mat with Basic Black and Bermuda Bay. And that bird is from the Beautiful Peacock stamp set — free with a $50 purchase before March 31, 2018. Kind of cool how the peacock is the focal point embossed in gold on the Bermuda Bay cardstock, but also serves as background interest embossed in gold on the gold foil.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions on how to make this card with the brocade embossed technique. It’s pretty straight forward layering. And if you don’t have the Layering Circles Framelits and Big Shot, substitute a scallop punch and a circle punch for the peacock focal point. There’s always a way!
