Butterflies Abound

Butterflies abound and embossing paste add much texture and interest

Butterflies abound with layers of texture on my card for today. And if you want to know how this card came about, check out page 87 of the new annual catalog. I changed the colors as well as well as a few other things from the sample pI turned.

I started by stamping the swirls from the Beauty Abounds stamp set in Pretty Peacock ink on a base of Pool Party cardstock. Then I diecut some sprigs using the Butterfly Beauty dies and layered them behind a short piece of the new 1/2” Scalloped Linen ribbon. I love the combination of the woven linen with the colorful Pretty Peacock scalloped edges. Now on to my layered butterfly.

Layered Butterfly

Diecut the base layer from the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits large piece in Whisper White and the top layer in Pretty Peacock. Cut off one Butterfly from each layer. Trace one of the butterflies onto vellum and erase the pencil lines. Put the solid vellum layer behind the white base butterfly. Layer the Pretty Peacock butterfly on top.

Butterflies abound with three layers creating one focal point.

Final Touches

I used the diamond pattern from the Stencil pack and randomly spread embossing paste in the open area of the cardfront. Let dry. Then I stamped my sentiment on Mint Macaron and cut it out with the tag shape from Stitched Labels. Dimensionals applied to the back popped it up over the dried embossing paste.

A few small pearls scattered here and there add more interest and dimension. And butterflies abound with different colored small butterflies adhered randomly.
