Complementary Crisp Cantaloupe Palette

Ever get stuck choosing colors for a card? Me too! So I built a color generator! Use all five suggested colors or pick just three or four. And it’s fun to hit the button and see what Palette Threads comes up with. Then choose one color to focus on and use the others as accents. Meet my Complimentary Crisp Cantaloupe palette!

My Complimentary Crisp Cantaloupe Palette

Palette Threads result for Complementary color scheme featuring Crisp Cantaloupe.

This combo came up today, and I immediately thought flowers in a terracotta pot. Then I thought how am I going to add leaves? And Secret Sea has a green undertone, I just needed to dilute it in some way.

I used a blending brush to sweep Secret Sea ink onto Basic White cardstock. Then I took a Secret Sea Stampin’ Blend, held the brush tip at a 45° angle and tapped the barrel with a bone folder to add splatter. Next, I took a water brush, squeezed to get a little water in the bristles, and tapped the barrel to add water splotches. Let sit to dry and you get a gorgeous, textured background. I diecut my leaves with the Help Me Grow dies. And bonus, the water splotches look like dewdrops!

My card is loaded up with even more texture. I applied Barely Blush ink to the pot stamp using a Stampin’ Spot. I wanted it to be uneven so I dabbed the ink on the image.

For the saucer, I swiped ink vertically to mimic the unevenness of old terracotta.

I stamped the dirt specks image multiple times with Crisp Cantaloupe ink directly on the Crisp Cantaloupe striped patterned paper.

Try Palette Threads yourself! I’ll warn you, though, it’s quite addicting (but in a good way).
