Create a Blending Brush Background

December 31, 2022 Leave a Comment

31 Dec
A white card with a blending brush background creating lines and circles of blushing bride ink with a pink bottle of champagne and glass of bubbly.

Create an easy blending brush background for a card to welcome in the new year. Let’s get started!

I used a piece of Basic White cardstock, Blushing Bride ink, a blending brush and two pieces of window sheet. One piece of window sheet is a rectangle and the other is a diecut circle. (I used the second largest circle from the circle dies to cut my circle.)

On the piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5-1/4″, I used the rectangular piece of window sheet as a mask and swirled a blending brush loaded with Blushing Bride ink along one edge. Then I moved the window sheet to a new spot and did the same thing. Keep repeating until you’re happy with the patterns.

Then, I swapped out the rectangle for the window sheet circle and added some curved lines into the mix. For this card, I purposely created almost an entire circle where I was planning to put the focal point of my finished card.

I punched the bottle shape in the lower left corner for the bottle shaker dome and added champagne bubbles with the effervescent elements on top of a stamped Blushing Bride bottle. Then I placed the entire piece on top of a standard Basic White card, 4-1/4 x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″. I also stamped and diecut a glass from the Brewed for You stamp set, popped it up on dimensionals and added a few bubbles above the glass.

I created a short video demonstrating the blending brush background, so check it out. Happy New Year!
